In a breast reduction, we first make an anchor-shaped incision in the lower half of your breast. Through this incision, we remove the excess glandular and fatty tissue. This leaves a scar that fades into a fine, white line over 6 months to a year, becoming barely noticeable. The result? Smaller breasts, less tension in the neck and shoulders, and a more balanced figure.

The operation itself takes two hours. You will then stay overnight in the hospital. This is because we place a drain in each breast. And this has to stay in place overnight.

Allow for three to four weeks for your recovery. You wear a compression bra for the six weeks following your breast reduction.

Er blijft een ankervorming litteken over in de onderste helft van de borst. Deze littekens zijn in het begin wat verdikt en kunnen verkleuren. Geef je lichaam voldoende tijd om te herstellen. Als onderdeel van het nazorgtraject krijg je bij ons 3 laserbehandelingen om de littekens te helpen vervagen.
Standaard schrijven wij nazorg door een thuisverpleegkundige voor gedurende de eerste week na de ingreep. Zij komen de wonde controleren en ontsmetten.
Het volledig herstel duurt ongeveer 6 weken. Tijdens die periode vermijd je best alle fysieke inspanningen. Het uiteindelijke resultaat van je borstverkleining is zichtbaar na ongeveer 3 maanden.
In principe is het nog perfect mogelijk borstvoeding te geven na een borstreductie, zeker als er nog voldoende klierweefsel is.
