With an eyelid correction or blepharoplasty, we remove the excess skin through a small incision in the crease of your upper eyelid. Too much fat under your skin? Then we remove that too. For the lower eyelid, we use different techniques to achieve a more even result. We usually remove a small amount of skin just under the eyelashes to soften the wrinkles. And, if necessary, we remove excess fat (puffiness). A week after your eyelid surgery, you will come for a check-up and we will take out the stitches.

De risico’s zijn klein, maar zoals bij elke chirurgische ingreep kunnen er complicaties optreden, zoals infecties, bloedingen, littekenvorming of onregelmatigheden in de huid.
Het herstel duurt ongeveer 1 week. Hoewel er in de eerste dagen zwellingen en blauwe plekken kunnen optreden, kan je wel al terugkeren naar je dagelijkse routine. Het kan 2 tot 3 maanden duren voordat de littekens van je ooglidcorrectie volledig vervagen en je compleet hersteld bent.
De nazorg houdt in dat je oogdruppels en oogzalf die de arts heeft voorgeschreven, aanbrengt. Daarnaast krijg je van ons een ijsbrilletje mee, dat je de eerste dagen gebruikt om de zwelling te verminderen.
De littekens van een ooglidcorrectie zijn meestal heel discreet en zitten langs de natuurlijke vouwen van het ooglid, zodat ze goed verborgen zijn. In het geval van een bovenste ooglidcorrectie is het litteken vaak nauwelijks zichtbaar. Bij een onderste ooglidcorrectie kan er een litteken net onder de wimpers zijn of aan de binnenkant van het ooglid.
We raden het af om meteen na je ooglidcorrectie met de auto te rijden, aangezien de zwelling en het ongemak je gezichtsvermogen kunnen beïnvloeden.
